The Owl and the Kitty Cat

As coincidence would have it, I had just posted the second of my Stoat Hall Legacy Book Club short stories – The Owl and the Kitty Cat – on various online virtual book stores when I stumbled across this fascinating book about owls by Jonathan Evan Maslow in my favourite junk shop, Alladins, round the corner from Thompson Mansions. 50 pence ludicously well spent, it is described by Philip Oakes in the Sunday Times as, ‘Not only a celebration but also an incitement to pierce the local darkness and see what lordly creatures we share the night with.’ Hmmm . . . typical florid blurb, I guess, but don’t let that put you off. It’s a compelling book about a fascinating species of bird. My kind of nonsense. Check it out.

And while you’re at it, why not take a look at my take on Edward Lear’s wonderful absurdist poem, The Owl and The Pussycat. A bonkers twenty minute read, you can download it for free at any number of book sales portals.
